Matthias Pintscher leads the New World Symphony Saturday night in music of Henze, Pintscher and Rihm.

Matthias Pintscher has been drawing the music world’s attention, with Franz Welser-Most and Christoph Eschenbach among the conductors who have championed his works. This Saturday the German composer-conductor leads the New World Symphony in its final “Sounds of the Times” program of the season.

Pintscher’s 2005 concerto Reflections on Narcissus features the rising young American cellist Joshua Roman as soloist. Pintscher also conducts Will Sound by Wolfgang Rihm and Hans Werner Henze’s Symphony No. 8, based on episodes from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This is a chance to hear some of Germany’s recent acclaimed contemporary scores.

Performance is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at New World Center in Miami Beach. nws.edu; 305-673-3331.
