Piotr Anderszewski was one of the brightest lights in the early days of the Miami International Piano Festival in the 1990’s. The Polish pianist went on to win the coveted Gilmore Award, make critically acclaimed recordings and perform in major concert halls throughout America and Europe. He has not been heard in South Florida, however, for a decade.

On Thursday he returns for a Bach-Schumann program at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. Bach’s Overture in the French Style and English Suite No. 3 bookend the program. Two less frequently played Schumann works—Novelette No. 8 and the Fantasy in C Major —re the concert’s centerpieces.

The Miami International Piano Festival presents Piotr Anderszewski 8 p.m. Thursday at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. miamipianofest.com; 305-935-5115.
