Florida Grand Opera’s 79th season opens November 16 with Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the first of three productions to be staged in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale in 2019-2020, followed by Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Verdi’s Rigoletto. The season closes with the Miami-only premiere of Domenico Cimarosa’s 1792 two-act comic opera, Il Matrimonio Segreto (The Secret Marriage).

Mozart’s sumptuous retelling of the exploits of the amorous Don Juan will have four performances at Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center, November 16-24, and two at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, December 5 and 7. The four-two split is the same for Madama Butterfly (January 18-26, 2020 at Arsht; January 30 and February 1, 2020 at Broward), and Rigoletto (March 14-22, 2020 at Arsht, March 26 and 28, 2020 at Broward)

An antic family tale in the mold of Mozart’s and Rossini’s Figaro operas (FGO is currently presenting Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro), Il Matrimonio Segreto wraps the season with four performances, April 25-May 3, 2020, at the Arsht Center only. Single tickets for the 2019-2020 season go on sale in September, FGO announced on Wednesday
