The Miami International Piano Festival has moved its signature Discovery Series to January from May. This weekend will introduce two pianists new to South Florida at Miami Beach’s Colony Theater.

On Saturday Russian born Dimitry Ablogin plays two of Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words and his Variations Sérieuses, along with works by Fanny Mendelssohn, Schumann and Chopin. Israeli pianist Ariel Lanyi debuts on Sunday with a program featuring Schumann’s Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp minor. Haydn’s Sonata in C minor and Beethoven’s “Tempest” Sonata No. 17 share the bill of fare.
