Florida Grand Opera announced the appointment Thursday of Kevin G. Mynatt to the new post of managing director. In this position, Mynatt will oversee all day-to-day operations and report to FGO general director and CEO Robert Heuer. Mynatt will also retain his current company position as director of production.

“I am eager to use my skills and production experience to assist the General Director, allowing him to focus on a bigger picture,” Mynatt said in a statement released by the Miami company.

Neither Heuer nor Mynatt were available for comment on the new administrative structure.

Mynatt previously served as managing director at Central City Opera in 2007 and held production positions with Opera Omaha and Chautauqua (New York) Opera. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in technical theater from Central Missouri State University and a Master of Fine Arts in theater and lighting design from Brandeis University.

FGO also announced the appointment of Erin Turner as technical director. He takes charge of coordinating design and lighting for all FGO productions. Turner was production manager for the 2011 summer season of Cape Playhouse in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
