Miami teen cellist to offer free concert before heading to Tchaikovsky Competition

Anna Litvinenko

Anna Litvinenko will be performing a free concert Friday May 27 before flying to Moscow next week to take part in the prestigious 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition.

Litvinenko, 17, is one of just 25 international cellists invited to take part in this year’s competition. She was profiled on South Florida Classical Review in 2009 when she performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra.

Her program Friday night with pianist Ciro Fodere will include music of Bach, Haydn, Cassado, Granados and Tchaikovsky.

The concert will take place 7:30 p.m. at Granada Presbyterian Church, 950 University Drive, in Coral Gables. Though admission is free, donations will be accepted to help finance the young cellist’s travel expenses to Russia.
