Friends of Chamber Music to offer a panoply of pianists at new venues

Stephen Hough will perform Feb. 19 for Friends of Chamber Music of Miami.

Friends of Chamber Music of Miami will expand beyond its traditional home at the University of Miami’s Gusman Hall in the coming season, with concerts at Florida International University and the Colony Theater in Miami Beach.

The new season will feature an abundance of pianists, with solo recitals by Stephen Hough, Nikolai Lugansky, Anton Kuerti in an all-Beethoven program, and Cyprien Katsaris.

The first four concerts will take place at FIU’s Wertheim Concert Hall. Lugansky will open the season Nov. 13, followed by Kuerti Dec. 5, the violist Roberto Diaz and musicians yet to be named on Dec. 19 or 20 and the Kalichstein Laredo Robinson Trio with violist Michael Tree on Jan. 9.

The series returns to Gusman Hall for piano recitals by Katsaris on Feb. 13 and Hough on Feb. 19. The Ysaye String Quartet performs Feb. 28 at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. Pianist Horacio Gutierrez and violinist Emilio Llinas will present a duo recital March 28 at Gusman Hall. Pianist Ken Noda and other musicians will perform April 4 at FIU and violinist James Ehnes will bring his Ehnes String Quartet April 25 or 26 at FIU.
