Three Dranoff Competition finalist teams announced
Three teams are going to the Dranoff 2 Piano Competition finals Thursday night.
Following four days of performances by eight duo-piano teams, the three finalists were announced late Tuesday afternoon in Miami. The finalist teams are Duo Yoo and Kim from South Korea, Duo Yamamoto from Japan and duo ImPuls from Germany.
Duo ImPuls appears to have the edge for taking the top prize of $25,000. The German team has already won the Audience Favorite award and swept all three performance prizes for the best rendition of works by Gabriela Lena Frank, Jerome Moross and Shelton Berg.
The three teams will compete in the Grand Finals concert 7 p.m. Thursday at Gusman Concert Hall. Dranoff2piano.org
