Seraphic Fire has received a grant from the Knight Foundation that will allow them to become ensemble-in-residence at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.

The $180,000 award from the 2013 Knight Arts Challenge will allow Seraphic Fire to become a fixture at the new arts center, beginning with the 2014-15 season.  The chorus will perform several concerts there, including some with the Firebird Chamber Orchestra. To date, the Cutler Bay center has offered few performances of classical repertory, instead concentrating on more populist entertainment.

“Seraphic Fire is thrilled to be receiving this award,” said Joey Quigley, Seraphic Fire managing director, in a released statement. “Cutler Bay and the surrounding communities have embraced us through our Christmas concerts, and now we’ll be able to maintain a season-long presence at the beautiful center.”
