Broward Center offers crossover lineup for 2014-15 classical series

The Broward Center will present a more crossover lineup in its 2014-15 classical series with two pops orchestras, Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell and South Florida box-office-bait Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell.

Violinist Joshua Bell and pianist Alessio Bax will open the Fort Lauderdale series November 1. On December 8, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will offer a holiday program with guest Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Seraphic Fire will perform Handel’s Messiah on December 19.

Pianist Jonathan Biss will perform music of Berg, Schumann, Schoenberg and Beethoven on January 16, followed by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra conducted by Keith Lockhart February 9.  Itzhak Perlman returns March 23, and the season will close April 22 with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and clarinetist Martin Fröst.
