Seraphic Fire’s new managing director is a former New World Symphony member who has performed as pianist and percussionist.

Rhett Del Campo will take up his new post August 15. Currently assistant to the executive director of the Kansas City Symphony, he was also part of SocialRaise, a company that develops social media and online fundraising capabilities for not-for-profit organizations.

Del Campo, 37, performed as a piano soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1991 and toured Italy with the Chicago Youth Symphony in 1994. He studed percussion at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and DePaul University in Chicago, where he received a master’s degree in percussion performance.

Following that he performed as a New World Symphony fellow for three seasons and then as principal percussionist of the Royal Swedish Opera and Ballet for three years.

Del Campo is succeeding Joey Quigley, Seraphic Fire’s managing director since 2011, who is leaving the chorus to pursue a master’s degree from Christie’s auction house.

During his tenure, Joey Quigley increased the organization’s cash reserves; secured management by Columbia Artist Management (CAMI); and negotiated a distribution agreement of Seraphic Fire’s label with Naxos of America.
