Palm Beach Opera announces 2017 season
Palm Beach Opera’s 2017 season will feature two familiar repertoire works and a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta with a star turn by renowned mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe.
The season opens with Puccini’s Madama Butterfly January 27-29. Sopranos Inna Los and Alexandra Loutsion share the role of Cio-Cio San, with tenors Scott Quinn and Adam Diegel playing Lt. B.F. Pinkerton and baritone Luis Ledesma as Sharpless.
Verdi’s Rigoletto follows March 10-12 with baritone Michael Chioldi in the title role of the court jester and soprano Andrea Carroll in her South Florida debut as Gilda.
Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance concludes the season April 7-9 with Blythe as Ruth and Sarah Joy Miller as Mabel. Hugh Russell plays Major General Stanley and Michael Todd Simpson is The Pirate King. Principal conductor David Stern leads the Pirates and Rigoletto. pbopera.org
