A new Carmen is in town.

Daniela Mack will take over the role of the title gypsy temptress in Florida Grand Opera’s production of Bizet’s Carmen. María José Montiel, who opened the production two weeks ago in Miami, has become ill and withdrawn from the remaining FGO performances.

Mack will sing the final two Carmen performances Thursday and Saturday night at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale. The American mezzo-soprano recently made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and will make her Metropolitan Opera debut later this season. fgo.org
