Seraphic Fire is reviving its choral training program in partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School.

The Seraphic Fire Professional Choral Institute (PCI), previously in residence at the University of South Florida, will be recommenced at the Aspen Festival in the summer of 2018.

Seraphic Fire will train pre-professional choral artists and present its own set of performances. In its PCI aegis, Seraphic Fire recorded Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, earning a 2012 Grammy nomination for Best Choral Performance.

PCI singers will rehearse and sing two side-by-side concerts with Seraphic Fire: a collaboration with the Aspen Chamber Symphony in the Benedict Music Tent conducted by Xian Zhang, and a performance of Fauré’s Requiem and Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna in Harris Concert Hall conducted by Seraphic Fire artistic director Patrick Dupré Quigley.

Participants will study vocal and ensemble-skills curriculum, and participate in audition, resumé, and vocal masterclasses led by Quigley, Seraphic Fire director of education James K. Bass, and Seraphic Fire members of Seraphic Fire.

“PCI facilitates a smooth transition into the professional world for our country’s next generation of choral artists,” said Quigley in statement released by Seraphic Fire. “Aspen Music Festival and School provides them with state-of-the-art facilities in which to pursue studies and connections with the country’s finest instrumental musicians, both of which will equip them for glowing professional success.”
