FGO closes the curtain on 2020-21 season

By Lawrence A. Johnson

To no one’s surprise, Florida Grand Opera announced the cancellation of its entire 2020-21 season Monday night due to Covid-19.

“We have had to made the extremely difficult decision, based on county guidelines for large gatherings and the advice of health officials,” said CEO Susan Danis. “We want nothing more than to get back to creating beautiful and magical productions in the grand theaters, yet everyone’s safety comes first.

“In the meantime, we are pleased to bring you both concerts and small opera performances throughout both Miami Dade and Broward counties, observing social distancing and CDC guidelines. We hope you will consider joining us for one of these very special events or enjoying them via the virtual option.”
