Seraphic Fire cancels January concerts

Seraphic Fire has cancelled this month’s performances of Hildegard von Bingen’s Ordo virtutum due to the current surge in Covid-19 cases.

“The health and comfort of both our artists and audiences are a top priority,” said executive director Rhett Del Campo in a statement released Friday. “Because our artists travel from all around the continent to perform for you in South Florida, we feel that asking them to fly here next week for rehearsals and performances would put their health and livelihoods at too much risk.

“And as with all our small ensemble performances, the withdrawal of even one or two artists due to sickness would put the organization in the position of trying to present a program that does not uphold the promise of our brand.”

Seraphic Fire’s remaining concerts are still on as of today with events running from February through April.

Ticket-holders have the option of changing their purchase into a donation, receiving a complimentary copy of Seraphic’s recording of Ordo Virtutum, requesting a refund, or exchanging tickets for a future concert for this season. Go to seraphicfire.org.
