Denève’s New World Symphony contract extended through 2032
The New World Symphony has given Stéphane Denève a strong vote of confidence.
The orchestral training academy announced Tuesday that the French conductor’s contract as NWS artistic director has been extended five years through the end of the 2031-32 season.
“Stéphane Denève has brought extraordinary energy, vision and purpose to New World Symphony,” said William Osborne, chairman of the NWS board, in a released statement. “Extending his contract underscores our confidence in his ability to deepen the Fellows’ experience, expand our creative horizons, and further anchor the organization as a vital force in Miami’s cultural life.”
“Leading the New World Symphony artistically since 2022 has been a source of infinite joy, inspiration, and hope,” said Denève. “This extraordinary institution is not only shaping the next generation of musicians, but also redefining what an orchestra can be and mean in our time.
“I am deeply honored to carry this journey forward for a second five-year term alongside our Fellows, faculty, staff, board, and audiences. Together, we will continue to build upon the spirit of Michael Tilson Thomas’s remarkable legacy, champion excellence, curiosity, and joie de vivre, and keep seeking new ways to connect, create, and share music with the world.”
